Find out how you can benefit from a rewarding career at HCA, the nation's leading healthcare company.
What’s the latest on hCare, HCA’s electronic health record? Find out straight from those in the know. Below is a recent dispatch from Rachel B. Robinson, MSEd, MS, Director of Physician and Clinician Adoption, Communication, and Education.
Moving an organization from a paper-based, heavily manual environment to an electronic, technology-supported one inherently forces transformation. The three key elements of any transformative initiative include People, Process, and Technology. Adoption is really about managing the “people side” of an implementation, which is typically discounted, overlooked or even ignored. HCA has recognized that to achieve a true clinical transformation, we must look at the difference between what it takes to install the technology and what it takes to get the desired outcomes (a focus on people doing things differently).
Many of us know that any significant change is difficult, even if it is considered positive, and it is different for each person involved. Therefore, the goal of the adoption team is to prepare HCA for a successful implementation by helping people understand and internalize the change. To reach our goal, we will create a supportive environment and platforms for our key stakeholders to be involved (i.e., physician champions) by creating comprehensive adoption strategies.
While there is no question that technology and process are critical to our success, people are the true drivers of this transformation and will enable us to reap the benefits of implementing clinical solutions such as hCare. A few of the key benefits include increased productivity for doctors and nurses, better information for decision making, higher quality patient outcomes, and improved workflow.
